Lower estimates hover around $40 billion, which still makes him one of the richest people in the world. This week, Putin dismissed reports based on leaked legal documents dubbed the ‘Panama Papers’ that some of his close associates had $2 billion in offshore accounts.

Born in the United States, King Adulyadej of Thailand is estimated to be worth about $30 billion, according to Forbes and Business Spectator. He has reigned for nearly 70 years, making him the longest-serving head of state in the world. He’s estimated to be the second-wealthiest world leader, behind Russian President Vladimir Putin.
3. Amancio Ortega; founder of Zara
The founder of Spanish clothing giant Zara is worth a staggering $67 billion, according to Forbes. He briefly overtook Bill Gates as the wealthiest person in the world in the fall of 2015 but soon fell back to second place.
4. Michael Jordan; former NBA player
With earnings totaling $110 million in 2015, Michael Jordan ranked #1 as the highest-paid retired athlete. According to Forbes, Jordan’s net worth is $1.1 billion.
5. Alexandra Andresen; heir to a family fortune
At just 19 years old, Alexandra Andresen is the world’s youngest billionaire, worth an estimated $1.2 billion according to Forbes. The Norwegian teenager is the heir to a family fortune built on tobacco.
