Reporting from Minna—Former Military President, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida, yesterday, said he was not dead, but alive and in good health.
It would be recalled that the media was agog that the elder statesman was dead.
Babangida, who spoke to newsmen at his residence in Minna, said the rumour of his death
did not come as a shock to him, saying nobody was above sickness or death because it had been destined by God.
According to him: “The rumour does not shock me, neither does it bother me because I know I must go and meet God, my creator. There is nothing really to worry about, my religion has told me. Well, as a Muslim, I strongly believe everybody will die, everybody will die and everybody has to die. It could be now or in hundred years time or two days to come, but it doesn’t matter, everybody must die.”
Speaking on the state of the nation, Babangida expressed optimism that Nigeria would surmount its present challenges and insisted that the future of the country was bright and had a lot to offer for the younger generations.
He said: “I still believe very strongly in this country, which is further demonstrated by the people because they are very industrious, hardworking, and that gives me the hope for Nigeria.” What's your take on this?
