Can you solve this math question?

It's a year two maths but it has left adults baffled with some giving wildly varying answers. So how good are you at kids' maths? Comment below

    Let the people on the train initially be X.
    X- 19+ 17= 63
    X-19=63-17
    X-19=46
    X=46+19
    X=65.

    They were 65 people initially on the train.
    65-19+17=63.
