One of the workers at the site of the yet-to-be completed shopping mall that partially collapsed in Itokun, Ogun state earlier today has been confirmed dead. According to a press release from the state government, site engineers had confirmed that a total of 16 workers were on duty at the building site, which was still under construction as at the time of the unfortunate incident on Friday morning.
Eight of the workers escaped unhurt. Out of the remaining eight that were injured and quickly rushed to the hospital, two have been discharged, five are still receiving treatment while one was brought in dead. After a 9-hour rescue operation led by the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, everyone has been accounted for.
